Order Consumables

Keep your print line moving with the right consumables on hand for toner, media, film, powder and daily production use. This guide shows how to order the correct items, when to restock, and what details to send so we can match your machine and job type first time.

Check What You Use Most Each Week

Start with the items that affect production every day. For garment work that usually means toner, transfer film, adhesive powder, cleaning supplies, and the right media size for the job. For label printing, it may be label stock, ribbons where needed, and spare components that wear with higher volumes. If you are running short-run colour work in Midrand, Sandton, Pretoria or further afield, it helps to keep a simple weekly usage record so you are not caught out mid-order.

Look at what leaves the store room fastest. A print shop doing 150 to 300 transfers a day will use consumables very differently from a business handling weekend sportswear runs or seasonal label batches. Once you know your average use, you can order before stock reaches the last box, not after it.

  • Toners or inks used per week
  • Media widths and roll lengths
  • Film type and sheet or roll format
  • Powder or adhesive usage by job volume
  • Cleaning items for heads, rollers and trays

Match the Consumable to the Machine and the Job

The fastest way to avoid wastage is to match the consumable to the printer and the end use. Different digital printers, transfer machines and label systems need specific media sizes, coating types and heat settings. If the wrong film or media is ordered, you may get poor adhesion, extra curl, blocked feed paths, or colour that shifts once it is pressed. A small mix-up can slow a full shift.

When placing an order, include the machine model, the material you are printing on, and the size you need. If the job is for dark garments, light garments, woven labels or synthetic stock, say so clearly. Our team in Midrand can help you confirm what fits your setup before stock is released, which saves time and avoids returns.

  • Machine make and model
  • Material type, such as garment film or label stock
  • Sheet size or roll width
  • Expected print volume
  • Any special heat or wash requirements

How to Place an Order Without Delays

You can order by email at hello@cmykindustries.co.za with a short list of what you need, or by sending your reorder sheet if your team already works from one. Keep the list clear and numbered. If you need a repeat order, mention the previous item description, quantity and delivery area. That helps us move faster, especially when you are working around courier cut-off times or load-shedding windows.

Please include your delivery town, contact name and a phone number that is answered during business hours. For larger orders going into Gauteng, Limpopo, the North West, Mpumalanga, the Free State or over the border, it is worth adding the site access details too. Some industrial parks and warehouse areas have strict receiving times and security checks so a good address matters.

  • Send the item name and quantity
  • Include size, colour and format where relevant
  • Add the delivery address and nearest area
  • Tell us if stock is needed urgently
  • Request a quote if you need approval first

Keep Stock in the Store Room, Not on the Panic List

Consumables should be ordered before the last box is opened. In a busy production room, toner and media do not fail on a convenient day. They run out on a Friday afternoon or halfway through a customer order. A small buffer keeps operators productive and helps you protect promised turnaround times.

Store toner and media in a cool dry room away from direct sun, open doors and damp concrete floors. Coastal humidity can affect some materials, while dust in Gauteng can build up on packaging if stock is left open. If you are near a loading bay or have frequent power cuts, keep sensitive items sealed and off the floor. This one habit cuts down on spoilage and rework.

  • Keep one spare box of fast moving items
  • Store rolls flat or as recommended for the material
  • Use older stock first
  • Check expiry dates and batch numbers
  • Separate clean stock from used packing

Plan for Maintenance, Not Only Production

Consumables are not only for printing jobs. They also support machine care and stable output. Cleaning cloths, approved fluids, spare maintenance parts, and calibration materials all help keep colour consistent and reduce avoidable breakdowns. If your team is using remote support or preventive maintenance from our Midrand base, it is easier to solve a fault when the right items are already on hand.

When you place a consumable order, think one step ahead. If a printer is due for a service, ask about items that are typically replaced during normal upkeep. If your line runs long shifts, factor in extra media, powder and cleaning stock for month-end peaks or school season work. It is a simple way to prevent stop-start production and last-minute collections.

  • Cleaning supplies for daily wipe-downs
  • Replacement parts commonly used during service
  • Calibration tools or media for test runs
  • Backup consumables for peak weeks

Get Advice Before You Place the Next Reorder

If you are not sure what to restock, send us what is left on the shelf and a quick note about your output. A shop printing 40 labels a day will not need the same order mix as a team pushing garment transfers across multiple presses. We can help with consumable planning, workflow advice and media profiling so the order matches the job instead of being guessed.

Our team supports print shops from Midrand, Sandton, Pretoria, the East Rand and the West Rand, as well as customers in neighbouring countries. If your business is growing or changing product lines, it is worth reviewing your consumables list every month or two. That keeps spending under control and avoids waste from stock that no longer suits the work.

If you need help now, email hello@cmykindustries.co.za with your current stock list and a short note on what you print. We will come back with practical options and help you order what fits the job.

Questions we get asked

What consumables should I keep in stock for short-run print work?

Keep your fastest moving toner, media, film, powder, cleaning items and any job-specific stock you use every week. If you print both garments and labels, separate the lists so you can reorder by production line.

How do I know which media or film to order?

Match it to the machine model, the print surface and the finished use. If you are unsure, send the item you used before or a photo of the label on the box and we can help check the fit.

Can you supply outside Johannesburg?

Yes. We support customers across South Africa and neighbouring countries, including regular supply into Gauteng, major metros and regional production sites.
